Surface quality according to EN 10130, 2006.

The products can be delivered with surface quality A or B:

• surface quality A:
  Defects that do not influence the formability or the application of surface coatings are permitted. These are defects such as pores, minor scratches, slight indentations, small grooves or slight discoloration.

• surface quality B:
  The better side must be free of defects that can spoil the uniform appearance of a high quality paint or of an electrolytic coating. The other side must at least conform to surface quality A.

As a rule, the upper side of the strip is inspected; on request the strip can be turned over so that the underside is the inspected side.

Roughness

Cold-rolled steel can be obtained in different grades of roughness. For most applications we advise the normal roughness.

Preservative oil

The material surface is standard oiled with preservative oil. Other types of oil can be supplied on request.

Normally Tata Steel Strip Products IJmuiden supplies from 0.25 g/m² up to 2.0 g/m² per side. Other oiling levels are available on request.

Tata Steel Strip Products IJmuiden cannot be held responsible for rust formation on non-oiled material during storage or shipment.

Surface cleanliness

Tata Steel Strip Products IJmuiden can guarantee better surface cleanliness on request. The cleanliness is tested with a tape test, in which the loss of reflection may reach a maximum of 25%. The surface is free of oil, rust and moisture-sensitive residue. If desired, Tata Steel Strip Products IJmuiden can also oil this steel with improved surface cleanliness.
