As a rule, all dispatched products, hot-rolled, cold-rolled as well as galvanised, are provided with an ODETTE transport label. This label contains information printed in legible typeface as well as in bar code form.

Every label consists of two parts: 

• a transport section, with information about destination and Tata Steel Strip Products IJmuiden;
• a product section, with information about the product such as coil number, cast number and dimensions.

When the order is received, the bar code label is scanned. The physical delivery of the goods can be linked in this way to the information received earlier through the use of EDI/EC. In this instance it is thus possible to record the correct information in information systems rapidly and without manual data entry.

Cold-rolled coil and sheet are usually marked on the non-inspected side with water-soluble ink

Packaging can be adapted to suit the customer's requirements, method of transport and destination using one of the following standard packs.

Tata Steel transports orders by road, rail, barge or sea-going vessels to any specified destination. Tata Steel Strip Products IJmuiden has its own sea harbour and shipment facilities for handling steel under the best possible conditions. These facilities are available 24 hours per day and seven days per week. In addition, Tata Steel Strip Products IJmuiden arranges the required formalities for customs and transport documents. We will gladly calculate the most suitable shipment arrangement for you in relation to the coil weight.

Keep the means of transport in mind when determining the coil weight. If you want to determine the maximum coil weight for road transport, then you must take the maximum load weight for each truck that leaves the plant into account.

As regards transport costs, the extent to which the truck can be loaded plays a large role in determining the optimum coil weight, in particular for road transport.                                                            

Order item weights
For small order items, i.e. less than six coils the order item weight must be a multiple of the coil weight.
