Surface quality is in line with standards EN 10327 and EN 10326 (MagiZinc is not included in the standard).
The products can be delivered with surface quality A or B. 

• Surface quality A: Standard surface  

          Imperfections such as small pits, differences in spangle size, dark spots, stripes and

          light passivation from the chemical treatment are permissible.

• Surface quality B: Improved surface

          The B quality surface is obtained by skin passing.
          To a small extent imperfections are permissible, such as stretch levelling breaks, skin

          pass marks, scratches, indentations, spangle structure, zinc run-off marks and light 

          passivation from chemical treatment. The surface has no pits.

As a rule, the upper side of the strip is inspected; on request the strip can be turned over so that the underside is the inspected side.

The MagiZinc product has virtually no spangle. It is currently available in 100 - 200 g/m², but other coating thicknesses are being developed.

MagiZinc coated steel with surface quality B can be obtained in different grades of roughness. If no roughness is specified, normal is delivered. 
 
Tata Steel Strip Products IJmuiden classifies as follows: 

The products can be delivered with surface protection O, C or CO.
 
Oils (O)
The material surface can be oiled with preservative oil. Other types of oil are available on request. 
Normally Tata Steel Strip Products IJmuiden supplies from 0.5 g/m² up to 2.0 g/m² per side. Other oiling levels are available on request. 
If no amount is indicated in the specification, a normal amount of oil is used.
 
Chromium-free passivation (C)
This surface treatment temporarily protects the zinc-coated material against white rust during transportation and storage. (Not applicable for all qualities, please ask our representative).
 
Chromium-free passivation and oiled (CO)
Request this combination of surface treatments if you require extra protection against white rust formation. (Not applicable for all qualities, please ask our representative).
 
Untreated (U)
Tata Steel Strip Products IJmuiden does not offer untreated MagiZinc coated steel because even with the increased corrosion protection of MagiZinc there is a risk of rust formation on unprotected material during storage or shipment.
